What is YouTube Vanced?

YouTube Vanced is a modified version of the official YouTube app with additional features that will enhance your YouTube experience:

  • Background playback
  • Picture-in-picture (PiP)
  • Black AMOLED theme
  • Ads blocking
  • Override max resolution
  • And much more!

Is Vanced available on the Google Play store?

Google does not allow Vanced to be published on the Play Store. Any "Vanced" application in it is fake.

You can only download and install YouTube Vanced using the Vanced Manager.

Is it YouTube Premium?

YouTube Vanced is NOT a free YouTube Premium!

This is a new modified version of the standard YouTube application that contains many features such as ad blocking, background playback and more..

Why the swipe gestures don't work?

If you have the comments section shown at the bottom (old location) in Settings > Layout Settings, disable it and restart the app.

If that doesn't work, force stop the app and clear its data.

Does YouTube Vanced support automatic updates?

No, the player does not update automatically.

But Manager Vanced will send a notification when an update comes out.

How to open hidden settings?

In the advanced settings menu, click on the "About" section 6-7 times in a row to enable it. This will open up additional video codec settings.

How to make YouTube Vanced a default app?

On rooted devices, it is already installed by default, as YouTube Vanced replaces the standard YouTube.

OneUl users:

  • Hold the YouTube Vanced icon
  • Click on app info
  • Click "Set as default"
  • Click "Open Supported Links" and select "Open In This Application"

MIUI users:

  • Open Settings
  • Go to the Applications section
  • "Application Management"
  • Click on the three dots in the right corner
  • Default apps
  • Opening links
  • Wait until all available options are listed
  • Find YouTube Vanced and click on it
  • Click "Open Supported Links" and select "Open"

AOSP and other custom Uls (00S, ColorOS, EMUI, etc.):

  • Open the settings
  • Go to the Applications section
  • Find YouTube Vanced
  • Click "Go to supported URLs" and select "Open in this app"
